About

I'm not a big fan of social networks. I'm a big believer in keeping things to yourself, privacy is important, it makes things special. However, I'm a huge literature fan. I'm always reading! And lately, I've discovered that I have too many ideas about books I've read that I can't share with anybody in real life. And it is not until I've put those ideas into sentences and paragraphs that I can continue successfully with my life. So, it's OK if no one reads this, and it's OK if someone reads and comments on this. What I'm trying to do is to get rid of some of my ideas :) Book recommendations are well received!

Title: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter #4)
Author: J.K. Rowling (www.jkrowling.com/)
Date of publication: September 2000
Synopsis: The summer holidays are dragging on and Harry Potter can't wait for the start of the school year. It is his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and there are spells to be learnt and (unluckily) Potions and Divination lessons to be attended. But Harry can't know that the atmosphere is darkening around him, and his worst enemy is preparing a fate that it seems will be inescapable ...With characteristic wit, fast-paced humour and marvellous emotional depth, J.K. Rowling has proved herself yet again to be a master story-teller. (From goodreads.com)

OK. I have to admit that, after four HP books, I know what the big fuss is about. Why did I wait so long to read these books?! 'cause apparently I AM a hipster :P HP was way too mainstream. Yeah, no. Actually I'd never been to drawn to fantasy, but this guy made me read it:

Not like personally, but you know... Hank (and John) kept talking about Harry Potter so much in the vlogbrother videos, that I just had to read them.
Right, so I think I liked this book a bit less than the others (which I liked a lot, so I still like this one a great amount). The first part was kinda boring. Am I going to be reading about Harry's terrible summers with the Dursleys again in the next book? Bit repetitive.
The Quidditch World Cup was also boring. I'm not into sports in real life... so a fictional sport does not interest me in the least. But once they got to Hogwarts things got better.
The fact that Harry was one of the Hogwarts champions did not come as a surprise for me. He was THE famous Harry Potter, of course he had to be a part of everything. Too predictable.
I liked the tasks, I enjoyed them. Especially the egg one that involved the merpeople.
I loved Hermoine! or Herm-Own-Ninny LOL. She's my favorite character. And since some really great (read that with a huge amount of sarcasm) spoilers have told me how the series ends, I found Ron to be adorably jealous :3 I wonder if she's going to keep SPEW going. I liked Dobby (I know how his story ends up, as well) and WTF was wrong with Winky!?!
That also was great, the whole part where they discover Mad-Eye Moody was really Crouch's son. Awesome plot twist.
I had so much fun imagining Robert Pattinson as Cedric!

He was cool, though. I was sad when he died.
So of course, I'm intrigued as to what they'll do now that Voldermort is back. Kinda scary, right?

Rating:
Favorite character: Hermione + Ron
Favorite secondary character: George and Fred
Favorite part: The tasks, especially the last two. Oh and Harry's duel with Voldemort...
Favorite quote: “If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
Least favorite character: Snape's and the Divination professor are always kind of annoying. But I think I hated Crouch (and his son). Also, the Dark Lord :P
Least favorite part: Voldemort's rising :S

Would I read it again? Probably

Title: The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend
Author: Kody Keplinger (http://kodykeplinger.com/)
Date of publication: September 2010
Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.
But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.

Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone. (from goodreads.com)

WHOA! Hold your horses right there.... Keplinger wrote this book when she was SEVENTEEN?!?!
*considers the whole book for a second*
Right, OK. I'm ok now. It's not that I didn't like the book, I did. But it wasn't great, you know? Since there's a movie made about it, I thought it would be amazing... it wasn't.
It has something, definitely. Because I finished it in two days, there was something that kept me turning the pages (well, pushing the little buttons on my kindle, but whatever). I just don't know what it was. I couldn't connect with Bianca. I didn't hate her, I didn't love her either. Wesley... I didn't fall in love with him like I usually do with other YA book boys. I just couldn't.
Other characters I don't even remember 'cause they were not very relevant for the story I guess.
I liked the moral of the story, it's great, but IDK it feels like the whole story was going there, there weren't any surprises, any plot twist...nothing that kept me on the edge of my chair (so to speak, 'cause I was laying in my bed the whole time :P)
So, yeah. It was cool, but not so out-of-this-world, nothing too special.
I just watched the trailer and let me tell ya... I won't be watching the movie any time soon. It has nothing to do with the book!! It infuriates me that they make movies claimed to be based on books when the only thing that is similar is the name! It seems like they changed many things...
http://professionalfangirls.com/
Is that the emo girl from The Perks of Being a Wallflower? The one that was Charlie's girlfriend for a while? I might've given the movie a chance... but there's that red-haired girl from Shake It Up, what's her name? Anyway, I can't stand her, so...

Rating:
Favorite character: Hmmm...
Favorite part: Ok, here comes the silly, hopeless romantic part of me... I loved it when Wesley left her a piece of paper in her desk that said something like Wesley Rush doesn't chase girls, but I'm chasing you. Yeah, kinda melted right there.
Favorite quote: “I  skipped the crush kiddie pool and jumped right into the deep, shark-infested ocean of emotions. And, if you'll forgive the dramatic metaphor, I was a lousy swimmer.”
Least favorite character: Bianca wasn't very likable and she hated everything! But I wouldn't go that far as to say she's my least favorite. I kinda hated her mom more.
Least favorite part: When her father relapsed.
Would I read it again? Don't think so.
